Manchester Researcher Development
Welcome to Manchester’s 3 faculty Research Development team
Our vision is that careers in research—across all sectors—are open, rewarding, and inclusive. We strengthen our members’ institutional provision for professional development through resources, events, research, learning and development support, policy and advocacy.

What Greater Manchester does for research and development
The Research & Innovation Directorate supports all aspects of the University’s high-quality research portfolio.
R&I colleagues are on hand to guide researchers and doctoral students from their first project idea through all the essential steps to dissemination and commercial development of outputs.
This site contains a wealth of information, including who to contact for support, funding opportunities and key University policies.
“I definitely think my Brilliant Club experience was the most important factor in my eventual decision to apply to Keble College, Oxford, where I’ve now spent the happiest two years of my life studying English and Italian.”

Our members
Our 3 universities are at the heart of Greater Manchester — educating over 100,000 students each year, supporting local employment, driving innovation, and working with the NHS, businesses and councils to strengthen communities and the economy. Together, our universities contribute around £6 billion each year to the region’s economy.
